Bengaluru city police is leaving no stone unturned to make sure people understand that Section 144 has not been imposed in the city. Pleading the locals not to trust rumours, Bengaluru city police tweeted saying, "#144Section Not Imposed In Bengaluru City ! Please Do Not Pay Heed To Rumours !!"
Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code is a law against joining unlawful assembly of people armed with deadly weapons. Whoever, being armed with any deadly weapon, or with anything which, used as a weapon of offence, is likely to cause death, is a member of an unlawful assembly, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
