Virat Kohli Hits Back at Ian Healy's 'Respect' Jibe

New Delhi: Skipper Virat Kohli has blasted former Australian wicket-keeper Ian Healy after the latter said he is "losing respect" for Indian captain Virat Kohli for his constant sledging of the Australians in the ongoing series between India and Australia.

Virat Kohli has so far failed to lit up the series with his bat and that has prompted former Australian cricketers to says that the visitors have got into Kohli's head.

"The pressure is starting to tell on (Kohli). I'm losing respect for him. He's got to be a lot more respectful of his opponents. The stuff he did with Steve Smith was unacceptable," the 119-Test veteran Healy told Melbourne radio station SEN.

When asked about Healy's comments, Virat retorted in his trademark aggressive manner.

[I’ll lose respect] in his eyes? We’ve got 1.2 billion people in India. One person doesn’t make a difference to my life. And also I think you should go and search on YouTube, when he was given out in Centurion, down the leg side. I heard he said something about me not having good behaviour with umpires – I think you all should YouTube that video and I think, yeah, that says it all. Just see that video and next time you ask me the same question," said Kohli.

Kohli was referring to third Test between South Africa and Australia in 1997 at Centurion, which the hosts won by 8 wickets.

Healy was dismissed for a paltry 12 in the second innings and while walking up the stairs towards the dressing room, Healy was seen throwing away his bat and mumbling something.

Later, Healy was also banned for two matches for his unsportsmanlike behavior.

Binny, Thakur left out of India Test squad to face New Zealand

NEW DELHI: India's selectors stuck with 15 of the 17 cricketers that went to the West Indies, dropping only allrounder Stuart Binny and uncapped pace bowler Shardul Thakur from the squad for the three-Test series against New Zealand starting September 22.
The BCCI's selection committee, joined by Test captain Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble, met in Mumbai on Monday and made their decisions in approximately an hour. Success in the Caribbean was rewarded, not surprisingly, considering India's 2-0 win. India opener Shikhar Dhawan remains in the squad despite managing one half-century in his last 11 innings, though whether he opens in Kanpur is far from certain considering he was dropped for the fourth Test in the West Indies. Sandeep Patil, the chairman of selectors, also singled out a "fabulous player" in Rohit Sharma who the selectors wanted to give "a fair chance" to.
